Above; a cleaner is the only man on the trading floor at November City's Stock Exchange, where Anthony Montague visited today.
In a speech this morning, Presidential Candidate Anthony Montague promised to turnaround the economy of Ocia. Visiting November City, the heart of the once booming Ocian economy, Mr. Montague reportedly muttered the word "ridiculous" when confronted with the empty trading floor of the NCSE. Moving on later in the afternoon, he entered November City's Town Hall to speak to a group of businessmen, bankers and civic leaders before attending a charity event for the disadvantaged. Speaking at the Town Hall, Mr. Montague had the following to say:
"November City was once the heart of a booming economy. Yet today when I visited the Stock Exchange, the floor was empty as it has been for many months now. I ask why? Is it the fault of the industralists of this nation, the bankers, the financiers of our nation's wealth? No, my friends. The cause of this downturn, arguably a recession, is the Government. It is the Government, its regulation and its woeful choice of an economics guru in Curtis Sinclair that has led us to this situation. Improvements are being made, I will grant Prime Minister Kakali that, but Presidentially we have been lacking in leadership. And so I propose my plan to kick start our economy again. Working with existing economic institutions, I will seek to implement a new economic system for the Ocian Federation. The Stock Exchange shall be opened for trading again and will become the primary basis for our economy. Companies will be encouraged to sell shares set at their own prices first but within the first week, and every week after, an independent body composed of all elements of our society shall meet to decide the forthcoming week's share prices. Prices shall go up or down depending on the productivity and business acumen of each company. We will have a new economy. November City no longer needs to be the sick man of Ocia, as I know only too well as I'm attending a charity event for those hit hardest by the slump here. November City will once again be the powerhouse of not just Ocia under a Montague Presidency, but of the world."
