The President of Ocia, Mr. Michael Dervin OCS walks into the Press Room at the Presidential Palace in Directus, Ocia and takes to the podium and begins to speak:
My Fellow Citizens and Honoured Guest from around the Micronational World,
Yesterday, Mr. Tomsett posted on the micronations.net forum a “document” allegedly written by myself, regarding a “spy satellite” programme to be stationed over his nation of Katyusha and that the Ocian Government was engaged in some form of espionage against the nation of Katyusha. I can confirm today that this so called “document” is nothing more than a downright lie, a elaborate & far fetched hoax and a complete forgery, concocted by Mr. Tomsett & Co. and that “Operation Silent Fox” was never nor will be a operation undertaken by the Ocian Government or its Agents, as Ocia does not view the nation of Katyusha as a threat to our national security and we remain committed to our policy of neutrality when it comes to the Communist issue.
I would also like to take this opportunity to address a point that Mr. Tomsett raised in a reply to this issue, in that a Ocian spy was caught in Katyusha. Let me make it clear, that Ocia have never sent a spy to Katyushan soil and has no intention of ever doing so. It seems here that Mr. Tomsett’s imagination seems to get the better of him and should a spy of been caught in the past in Katyusha, I am most certainly sure we would of read about it in the Katyushan…sorry, the Intermicronational News website. This claim is outrageous and I ask that Mr. Tomsett publicly make a apology to the Ocian Government and the Micronational Community at large for these outlandish claims and he cease at once in supporting these claims, which you would have to have completely and utterly insane to believe. If Mr. Tomsett is trying to create activity, then he has certainly done so, however, I do advise him, that should he wish to create some form of activity, he should do so in a manner that does not affect his creditability and is based in fact (or Micronational fact) rather than pure fiction.
Nonetheless, the nation of Ocia remains committed to honouring our treaty with the nation of Katyusha and moving forward in peace and friendship. We have great respect for the nation of Katyusha and hope that this horrendously false document does not hinder our respect and friendship in one another and that is will not damage but strengthen Ocian-Katyushan relations in the long future we have together.
I would like to finish with a quote from J. Russell Lynes, who said “Every journalist has a novel in him, which is an excellent place for it.” I hope that Mr. Tomsett takes this advice onboard, when he next thinks about writing his sequel to this fictional work.
Thank you for your time,
Mr. Dervin then leaves the room with the gathered press shouting questions at him.
