The Electoral Commission (EC), wishes to announce and confirm the following:-
1. The Presidential Election WILL be held on the 1ST of JUNE 2008, from 00:00 - 24:00 GMT, the Polls will Close at 24:00 on the 1st June/2nd of June, In accordance with the Supreme Court Order. It is your responsibility, to check out your time zone for these times. For your Convenience the commission has Prepared the Following, Time Zone Boards:
Sun 1st June 12:00 - Election Begins in Wellington, New Zealand
Sat 31st May 20:00 - Election Begin in EST, EDT US Eastern Time
Sat 31st May 19:00 - Election Begins in CST, CDT US Central Time
Sat 31st May 18:00 - Election Begins in MST, MDT US Mountain Time
The Polls close at the same time the following day (e.g. add 24 Hours)
There will be no extension to the time zone, nor will the commission count any vote cast outside the time zone, your vote Must Be cast with in the time band quoted above. If you make an error in the tine zone conversion, the Commission cannot be held responsible for this and will not count your vote, so please make sure you have the times right and vote early to Avoid disappointment.
2. The vote will consist of vote through Demochoice. This system will prevent Fruad. Citizens need to simply check their email for a link to their ballot.
3. All Citizens are entitled to ONE NON-TRANSFERABLE VOTE, this means you get to vote for ONE Candidate Only. Make sure you vote for the correct candidate the first time, as your vote cannot be modified at a later time or removed, once made, it remains permanent, unless declared invalid by the EC, which must be later certified by the Supreme Court. E.g. All Invalid votes, must be certified as Invalid by the Supreme Court, to be not counted by the EC.
4. Only Candidates registered for the Election, will be on the ballot. No late candidates will be registered and as of today, no candidates may drop out from the election.
5. After the election poll closes, the EC will announce the results and submit to the Supreme Court, the full results and report regarding the election along with any other relevant information. The Court will the open to appeals, should no appeal be made or the court refuses to hear appeals lodge, then they will certify the results & the candidate who won the election will be officially declared elected and he will then take the oath of Office and assume the Office of President. Should a appeal be upheld by the Court, the court will then issue instructions on how the matter should proceed.
6. All Question and comments should be directed to the EC ASAP.
