The objectives of research in Bluelight Genetics will be to focus on developing cures for many ailments afflicting mankind. This includes cancer, diabetes, malaria, alzheimers, multiple sclerosis, and others. Working in conjunction with Bluelight Botanical, the genetics department will be utilizing the research provided by the botanists and, in addition, some of the materials grown by the gardens, to support research into new areas. Currently scientists have linked some properties of the bromeliad plant to cancer inhibitors - this we seek to extrapolate on and fund significantly.
A good portion of the medical staff here at the genetics department will rely on a "fair trade" program until greater currency flow is established. This means that most scientists here will be working as interns, paid little or nothing, but still working, and given food, shelter, clothing, and continued education, as well as field experience. Once the switchover to a normal economy - probably once New Light City's construction phase is complete - these same people will be given full normal wages and salaried by the state.
