In addition to the construction of New Light City, and set for a later date when initial, more important construction is out of the way, the Sottic Botanical Garden and Preserve, as indicated by Number 3 on the map below, will be a park for use by both the city and scientific institutions. The SBG&P will be an immense effort, possibly taking many years or more, but beginning soon, in which botanists will gather and plant as much of the flora of Sottica as possible. Like most botanical gardens, some will have to be enclosed in greenhouses in order to simulate their natural environment, especially species not found within the local environs. However, once completed the SBG&P will be the largest botanical gardens south of the equator. Also once completed, the gardens will be opened to not just the Ocian public, but the international public as well. These gardens are a very important part of botany, and will help to classify and order Sottic flora by species and genus, adding them to the already growing array of flora that populates the botanical annals of Giess.
