What do you know about the Giessian history of the Ocian countryside? I notice that the area we now occupy is named Treithar on the topographical map - and judging by the North Point response, micronationalists don't seem to forget much.
Also, I believe that any remnants of the past society should still technically be there unless destroyed by war - this could make an expedition that if done right could do wonders for the profile of Ocia.

OK, I hereby make this thread the official place to discuss what I am to propose - so no one can say we just sat up one morning and rashly decided to do something. The Area that Ocia currently occupies on Giess was previously under the control of a micronation called Treithar, who were members of the GC. see mnn.mncentre.net/wiki/index.php?title=Treithar and new.mncentre.net/gso/maps/v200large/gso_200_g3.PNG for more on this. With a bit of research we should be able to rediscover parts of this former micronation within and nearby our territory. Of particular interest in my opinion would be to follow the river from Directus to the sea - and then exploring the coast to attempt to find the old capital Corthas. The expedition would be useful in a variety of ways, including giving Ocians a sense of history, pride and perseverance as well as the obvious economic impact of having a river-mouth port which can help connect Directus to the world. The first step of the expedition would be to source all knowledge about the river (sorry, does it have an Ocian name?) that can be collected. Then it would be prudent to also determine, if known, the whereabouts and state of Corthas. Would you be able to superimpose an outline of Ocia on the old map? I have no idea how to...

I very much like were you are going. Perhaps you could find some historical information from Grauis (excuse my spelling) on micronations.net, he was originally the founder of treithar and he should know everything about it, as well you could check the microantions.net Wiki for not updated articles on treithar. Here is a map of just Ocia.

Well, I have sent Graius a few pms and he has said that Treithar did not really have any information of this sort - so we are to discover the countryside on our own. He did say that we could not use any of Treithar's intellectual property, or he'd sue me, so I guess we might have to just let him read what we want to publish before we post it. So I think that it is full steam ahead for the expedition, and I guess it can be begun immediately after North Point is completely sorted. I shall continue to brainstorm some ideas, and produce a schedule within the next few days. Obviously any ideas you have will be included...

Thank you very much, although that was a little disappointing what Triethar said, it was sort of rude. When do you want to leave for the state visit to North Point, I will announce it on Ocia's news blog.

Ok, my work on this has been a bit hampered by my work on the constitution, but I am still very interested in pursuing this.

I will look into it while trying not to break any Treithar copyrights.
