My Fellow Ocians,
Today, I address you not as a nation, but as a community of individuals who have over the last few days witnessed tumultuous events that have gripped our nation and have threatened our very existence as a nation and as a community, events which have shown that one of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. The bamboozle has captured us. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back. Ocia has been bamboozled by the very men we trusted with the administration of our forum, the very men who seized upon them self to engage in a coup against the Government because this government did not approve of their actions in inciting and attempting to bring war to our fair shores. Ocia believes, the real and lasting victories are those of peace, and not of war. For those who seek absolute power, even though they seek it to do what they regard as good, are simply demanding the right to enforce their own version of heaven on earth. And let me remind you, they are the very ones who always create the most hellish tyrannies. Absolute power does corrupt, and those who seek it must be suspect and must be opposed. We opposed these charlatans, who we imprudently handed power over us and when we attempted to gain it back, we paid a heavy price, but a price that we are more than willing to bear in order to once again, give Ocia back to the people and not to those who believe because they control a forum they control the nation. Freedom, is seldom ever free, it comes with a price, Ocia has paid this price, a price that may take us many months to recover from, a price which may degrade our status among our fellow nations, but I say let them talk among themselves about the strife in Ocia, let them do as they wish, for Ocia will emerge from this situation with even more resolve and determination to succeed and surpass all expectations, for what doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger, what fails to break this community of like minded individuals apart will only bring us unite us more with one common goal, to prove the critics and doubters wrong, to prove that Ocia is not a nation of quarrels and conflicts, but we are a nation resolved that we will never die nor will we disappear quietly, we will survive and bring forth a new era of growth and co-operation that the Micronational world has never seen before. For when we get knocked down, we shall get up again and by God, nothing will ever keep this nation down. We shall make possible the impossible, surpass the unsurpassable and overcome, every obstacle placed in our path, for this Nation, this community and each one of us, are not interested in the possibility of defeat, because for us, they do not exist!
I believe that liberty is the only genuinely valuable thing that men have invented, at least in the field of government, in a thousand years. I believe that it is better to be free than to be not free, even when the former is dangerous and the latter safe. I believe that the finest qualities of man can flourish only in free air – that progress made under the shadow of the policeman's club is false progress, and of no permanent value. I believe that any man who takes the liberty of another into his keeping is bound to become a tyrant, and that any man who yields up his liberty, in however slight the measure, is bound to become a slave. Ocia will never allow herself to become any form of slave, nor shall we live in fear, we picked up the courage to end the injustices against the Ocian people against those who sought to control and imprison us within our own free nation. Courage, it would seem, is nothing less than the power to overcome danger, misfortune, fear, injustice, while continuing to affirm inwardly that life with all its sorrows is good; that everything is meaningful even if in a sense beyond our understanding; and that there is always tomorrow. It is on this hope of tomorrow, that I ask you, my fellow countrymen, to work together in hope for tomorrow, for Hope is like a road in the country; there was never a road, but when many people walk on it, the road comes into existence, this is the story of Ocia’s past and present and now let us embark down the path of hope together to ensure the future of Ocia. For, far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow them and it is my pursuit of our aspirations that we build, keep and mend this community. So today, let us leave the dark and stormy past behind us, a look towards the sunshine, where there is a better tomorrow and work together to accomplish our dreams, our goals and make tomorrow, even better than, the best we could possible imagine to be! For in working together, impossible things can happen!
Thank You.
