I would like to formally begin the All-Ocia Economic Conference, whose goal it will be to establish a workable economic system and have that system implamented by the end of March 2009 at the latest. All citizens are invited to participate in any way they wish, every opinion is valued. Let's get to work creating a stable, viable economic system that will outlast this generation of leaders, and may serve as a model for other micronations!

I think our first priority for our economy is to establish just what resources we have, and establish means to extract them. First, we figure out what resources we have, and where they are located at. Below is a map that was developed for Luthoria that maps all our resources. This map would have been once of the bases for Luthoria's economy, had the nation not fallen apart. Once we have our resources mapped out, we must come up with what I call "standard units". These SUs are established for every resource, and are basically "1 standard unit of resource X is needed to build/create [fill in the blank]. This was the system that we were going to adopt in Luthoria, and that we used in Luthoria's predecessor, Emeraldia, with some good results. After we establish the SUs for all of our resources, we establish how much each SU costs. Once this is done, our economy can begin to function. Businesses will be able to figure out how much resources they will need for their products, how much it will cost them to make the products, and how much they need to charge to make a profit. With this sort of system in place, I believe Ocia would have a firm foundation to build a proper economy upon. Now, I'll admit right now that I'm no economic whiz. I dont' know the first thing about setting up a stock exchange. In fact, the above system was not created by me, but a friend of mine who was in that first micronation I mentioned, Emeraldia. And I might add that we were able to use this system. One of my friends set up a mining company, and I would, as the shipbuilder, buy my resources from him, and then sell the ships to the government or to any other interested party. And my friend would take his profits and build more mines or expand the ones he had. I know it's basic, but it's something I think we can work with, and something we could build on. Another facet of this would be having companies keep fairly regular track of the progress of production, much like I have done with AE: ociagov.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ae&action=display&thread=608Again, it's very basic, but it is way better than nothing. The one issue we will have with trying a system like this is going to be maintanence, but I feel that any system we come up with will require that, so it shouldn't be a major issue. Any thoughts? If you think my idea wont work, like I said, I'm no whiz at this stuff, so I'd love to hear other suggestions. Just trying to get the ball rolling, that's all.

If necessary, I can work on a stock market revamp for you. It'll be basic but it'll be fair and pretty much the exact same one I proposed in my Presidential Campaign.

The logo wasn't for the NCSE, but for the conference. Sorry for the confusion

Would anyone be opposed to me going ahead and implementing some of what i suggested, you know, coming up with a resource map, setting prices on resources, that sort of thing? or does anyone have any better ideas?

I see no problem in going ahead with what you have suggested and look forward to seeing what you come up with!
